Fit, Rooming, and Separate Units for Women and Men

SoberHomes FAQ infographic explaining sober living for residents, families, and referral partners.

Separate units, shared recovery expectations.

SoberHomes may serve women, men, or mixed referral needs depending on the property, unit layout, current availability, and house fit.

SoberHomes Reno includes five separate units. Each unit has its own entrance, kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms. This allows women, men, or other appropriate groups to live in separate units while following the same recovery housing expectations.

Rooms are assigned by room occupants. Units are assigned with attention to sex, safety, recovery readiness, house culture, and the needs of the current home.

SoberHomes is sober living, not ordinary room rental. Placement is reviewed during intake and depends on availability, room type, safety, and whether the home is the right level of support.

Shared Property and Guest Expectations

The outside property and approved common areas may be used by members and approved guests under the house guest policy.

Guest access is limited. Approved guests may visit for up to two hours, three times per week, and only in approved interior or exterior common areas. Guests are not allowed access to private rooms or sleeping areas.

Family support is important. Women may have visits from sons, fathers, other family members, sponsors, or approved guests within the guest policy.

Male members do not have unrestricted access to women’s living spaces. Male members may enter a women’s common area only in limited situations, such as:

  1. A house meeting led by the Facilitator.
  2. A weekly chore or housekeeping activity coordinated by the Housekeeping Coordinator.
  3. An approved guest-policy visit requested or accepted by the unit members.

The goal is simple: protect safety, privacy, recovery, and dignity while still allowing healthy family contact, peer support, and shared house responsibilities.
